Poverello House

Helping the Homeless in Nevada

Welcome to Poverello House!

In the Franciscan tradition, Poverello House opens its doors five days a week to offer regular daytime hospitality to the homeless in our city a comfortable, homelike environment that respects their human dignity. Poverello House serves as an oasis for the poor who live on the streets of Las Vegas and Henderson, Nevada.

We provide our guests with two substantial and nutritious home cooked meals each day. Clothing, blankets, personal hygiene items are also available. Showers and laundry facilities are provided, as well as beds to nap in, televisions and games for recreation, and space to sit and relax in our large, enclosed yard. A limited amount of residential space is also available to resident guests who help staff Poverello House each day, and for others who are seeking full time employment and working toward their own permanent housing.

Poverello House is a practical ministry that labors to meet basic human needs, but we also strive to be a place of physical and spritual healing for our guests, volunteers, and the community. We believe that in recognizing and reaffirming the basic human dignity of these "least among us," we acknowledge the dignity of the entire human family wherein all people should be treated with respect and lack in no area of basic need.

Poverello House relies soly on private monetary support. No government funding is used. We are supported by dontations of time and substance from individuals, religious organizations, and other groups interested in participating in our ministry. We welcome all inquiries about opportunities to help.
